Day before Rothesay

• There is a show on at the Queen's Hall. "The Girls" are meeting there for "tea" before going to the show.
• Will have to get ready for leaving about 10.00 a.m. tomorrow.
• Made contact with a John Gillies who used to work for the Rankin family in Kilfilan, out by Tighnabruaich. An ancestor, William McLean retired to Tighnabruaich, building Medrox cotage and the equally large house in front, round the corner of the Bistro and between there and the Royal Hotel. But a Rankin (1830s) had bought all the farms around South Medrox farm, (to acquire the mineral rights) and re-rented the farms to the previous owners. Obviously our William and the Rankin knew each other. I've made contact with a John Gillies, who used to work for Rankin family, and he has a book somewhere all about the local district and families. John lives along Park Road. The present John Rankin lives in Perth. So it is rather unexpected to be coming up with family information from Argyll, possibly.
• Log cabin next door will be going up when we are away.
• I'll have to be back for a computer test on spreadsheets on Monday morning.
