Bluegrass at Strachur

  • A most enjoyable afternoon at Strachur hall with two groups playing Bluegrass Music (named after Bill Munroe and his band, The Bluegrass Boys). Two of the group made guitars and mandolines. Laura Boosinger was a banjo player. A "crazy man", about 30 years of age, played the banjo, straight tunes and in supporting melodies, the best I've ever heard. They came from Virginia and Carolina. A young girl who could make that fiddle ring, sweet and fast. Two other women singers, one played the zither. It was called "The Crooked Road Tour", I think since there are not many straight roads in that area. Ginny Hawker and Tracy Schwartz. No Speed Limit was the other group, and Anderson and Strickland. Wonderfull afternoon.
  • The garden is a wealth of colour at this time.
  • Small concrete pillars, like Mike had for the deck, were laid yesterday for the new log cabin type workshop next door.
