Near end of October
Near end of October
- Gave the carpet a shampoo/
- Knocked together a frame for holding tools with long handles (still to put a grid on the top. Wish I had a welder!
- Begin classes tomorrow. What they call the ESDL course ( a sort of driving license). I’m concentrating on Power Point, although quite a few things have changed in Word in recent years.
- Johnnie Jones gave me his old Win65 computer, which will have only enough disc capacity for one system…question now is how to load Linux with a starter floppy disc; the BIOS does not accept things from the external disc on switch on.
- Once I’ve handed over the church records to Captn Smith I’ll play about with my old computer and Linux, but the computer already has useful programs that I sometimes dabble with..K, APL, J, and has tools like Textpad for program writing and Puz and a good Collins Dictionary/Thesaurus for solving crosswords etc. etc. Needs a clear out.
- Robert will be in Minorca
- Mum has just about finished her two cushions…using a technique that we once used for making tassels. In those days we used two milktops and threaded wool round the rims (and through the centre), then cut around between the two milk tops. The cushions are like dozens of such multicoloured tassles.
- Cooked some Tuna steaks for the first time.
- Saw on TV.. a brush (for washing the car) with a long tube leading to a bucket of water…the end of the tube had a moving valve (don’t know its technical name), but jigging the end of the tube with the valve in the water and the water climbed up the tube to the brush. Then pressure of the brush (looked rubbery with soft nylon “hairs”) on the car surface probably sucked up more water. Sell in the millions!
- Work has started on the new Grammar School…laying drains.
