This is a note behind the ancestry list.
How about an ancestor called James Mucklemile b.1792 in Belfast (County Antrim?)?
My uncle Charles (who emigrated to north island New Zealand) also married a Mary Moore.
Janet McMillan was born in Campbeltown.
James Douglas did not return from war, or abandoned his wife or…anyway William McLean and Janet McMiles had four children in Preston before being married in a Baptist Church in Coatbridge, where they returned. He worked with the Railway, with horse and cart delivering goods from the station.
Janet McLean married Alec Gtreenhorn, who died in a pit when a steel arch suddenly sprung apart and hit him on the chest. Her second husband Sammy Caldwell worked as a porter at the local hospital where aunt Janet worked as a cleaner. I inherited Sammy’s button melodeon. Gran McLean first saw him busking in Carnwath, before she met him to realize who he was!
Helen McLean married a Love, who was blind but played darts with us. She injured her leg and had many operations. Very black hair, as had aunt Agnes and interested in everything.
John McLean worked on the farms near Strathaven with Grandpa McLean, (they would argue for hours in the bothie or play fiddle, mandoline or melodeon at dances at the cross-roads) then eventually lived in Half-way Cambuslang, and Newmains, near Newhouse, where he was a road foreman and a strong churchgoer (treasurer).
Malcolm McLean worked in the local gas works in Coatbridge.
Agnes McLean married Frank McGraw (steelworks), son James a twin is a patent agent in Ottowa; other twin Malcolm recently retired from Hong Kong and living in outside Edinburgh.
James was a “brusher”, clearing stone and extending the roadways in the Victoria Pit, Newtongrange.
